We’re hitting the brakes on all flagship-related talk today. Instead, we’re popping the headlights on three tablets—all running Google’s Android Ice Cream Sandwich—from CD-R King.

The Philippine retail monarch has come a long way from being the go-to store for making mixtapes (and physical “backups” of content off the Internet). Consider: peddling everything from cables and flash drives to windmills and rice cookers.

Now, CD-R King’s stirring the Android pot and serving touchscreen slates to peso-pinching consumers.

First is the CD-R King FastPad FP-005-XON, which is a 10-inch Android tablet rocking a pretty decent spec sheet—and an even better tag price. Selling for just P7,280, it sees a 1.2GHz processor and a 350MHz Mali-400 graphics unit doing most of the legwork. Other highlights inlclude an IPS display for better viewing angles, 1GB of RAM, and support for 3G USB sticks. Right, you can use your network provider’s 3G dongles with this device, provided you own a female USB adapter.

10-inch FastPad FP-005-XON specs:

  • 10-inch IPS LCD display (1024 x 768 resolution, capacitive touchscreen)
  • 1.2GHz Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex-A8 CPU
  • Mali-400 GPU
  • 1GB RAM, 4GB internal memory (micro-SD card slot up to 32GB)
  • 0.3-megapixel front camera, 2-megapixel rear camera
  • 8,000mAh Li-Ion battery
  • 608 grams
  • 242 x 189 x 9.7mm
  • Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 OS

A slightly cheaper alternative to the FP-005-XON is the CD-R King FastPad FP-004-SEC, which retails for P6,990. Like its more expensive brother, this tablet has a 10-inch screen dominating its front side. Unlike the other, however, its display technology is WVGA. Also on the spec sheet is a 1.2GHz Cortex-A8 CPU, a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera, and 1GB of RAM. Surprisingly, this model features an 8GB internal memory—twice the storage capacity of the FP-005-XON.

10-inch FastPad FP-004-SEC specs:

  • 10-inch WVGA LCD display (1024 x 768 resolution, capacitive touchscreen)
  • 1.2GHz Cortex-A8 CPU
  • 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory (microSD card slot up to 32GB)
  • VGA front camera, 2-megapixel rear camera
  • 6,600mAh Li-Ion battery
  • 540 grams
  • 242 x 189 x 9mm
  • Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 OS

Also up for sale on the product list is the smaller CD-R King FastPad FP-003-SEC, which is quite a steal at 7 inches. It boasts a capactive screen with 800 x 480 resolution; a 1.2GHz Cortex-A8 workhorse; and Google’s latest Ice Cream Sandwich version. We would have liked to have seen a bigger power block on this tablet, but with a retail value pegged at P3,990, we rest our case.

7-inch FastPad FP-003-SEC specs:

  • 7-inch LCD display (800 x 480 resolution, capacitive touchscreen)
  • 1.2GHz Cortex-A8 CPU
  • 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory (microSD card slot up to 32GB)
  • VGA front-facing camera
  • 3,500mAh Li-Ion battery
  • 374 grams
  • 192 x 124 x 12.8mm
  • Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 OS

Unfortunately, all devices weren’t available in CD-R King’s Megamall branch as of last week, so we weren’t able to get our hands on them. You can get more information from people who actually own these tablets by checking out TipidPC’s discussion thread.

Lol. all rebranded phones including these have 4GB of internal memory, but part of that is used for the OS and the system. Users are left with 1GB+ of usable memory. That’s what the 4GB means.

piki yong 4g nakalagay, it just 1gig. tignan nyo muna bago bumili..

It sounds good but i doubt to buy one. My friend had that already he said its okay. I wonder why they have to lots of time to repaire it. is this longlasting???
    ANSWER MY QUESTION PLEASE……

  • Zeedrix

Well based on my experience with cdrking products, you gotta have some 4 leaf clover or a rabbits foot or somthing for luck. I bought 5 headset(earbuds) for 60 peso all at the same time. Im using them simultaneously. Guess what after 1 year only one is still working. The problem with them tho the product is thesame the quality us not equall. So keep in mind when buying from  cdrking take time to test the product. Always bring someone with you who is familiar with the product and lastly take extra careful of their product specially after the warranty period.

Regret comes at the end… 4 weeks now, and still cannot get the repaired 7 inch fastpad (its already out of 7 days replacement period). It seems they are getting a hard time to get a replacement item since majority of the branches in metro manila doesn’t have this unit anymore. I’ll never buy items from them again that costs 2,000 pesos up.

  • Ryan

well, the chips inside were made by samsung.

  • http://twitter.com/zaghy2zy Ivan Lapis

Not bad, looking at the specs and probable quality it sound exactly how cheap it is. For this guy from Canada linked here by his other Pinoy friend in the PH, I’d say the specs describe exactly the cost and quality of the product. Not top of the line, but I will never say the specs are bad just because they are not similar to the top of the line ones. They sound bad because they are meant to reach a demographic filled with people who could hardly afford more than their day to day expenses.

  • Jaycee Santos

The specs were good but I think the internals (parts) is not as good as the other tablets. Other good tablets were made in China but the parts were supplied by the manufacturers just like Apple and Samsung, but this CDRking tablets parts were china made (I guess, since almost all of their own brand products were china/clones). IMHO Price: Good. Specs: Good Hardwares/parts: Bad

Better get another (branded) tablet. Yes Its pricey but wont make you regret…..

  • Coffeebee

Based on my experience with cdrking products i wouldnt give these products the benefit of the doubt. Id rather go for a second hand branded tablet.

For big-ticket items, I won’t buy from CD-R King, too.
