Update, 7PM, October 30, 2012: We’ve updated the story to indicate that retail stores, not Smart, will sell the Nexus 7 for P13,995. Smart Communications will presumably just bundle the device with data plans.
As reported earlier, Google’s Nexus 7 is finally coming to the Philippines in time for our Christmas bonuses! The 32GB WiFi version that is, according to our source.
The WiFi-only model will initially be available via Smart stores mid-November and will be paired with the telco’s FlexiSurf offers. A week or two after that, the non-cellular 32GB Nexus 7 is going to hit authorized retailers with a P13,995 price tag, we’re told.
The latest iterations share the same silicon as the 8GB and 16GB Nexus 7s, with the exception of the spacious memory.
If you’ve been (literally) keeping tabs on Google’s signature 7-inch tablet, surely it needs little to no introduction. The Nexus 7 wields a 7-inch IPS touchscreen with an impressive 1280 x 800 resolution and Gorilla Glass protection. It makes use of a 1.2GHz quad-core chip from Nvidia (1.3GHz when using only one core) and has a gig of RAM and a 4325mAh battery to boot. It has a 720p front camera to make up for its lack of a rear-facing option.
Presumably, the newer Google Nexus 7 will officially arrive in the Philippines with Android 4.2 baked into the tablet.
